Analysis of Diode Circuits
Let the circuit indicated in the diagram. We desire to analyze this circuit to fine out the diode current ID & voltage VD.
Obviously the diode is biased in forward direction.
Supposing that VDD is higher than 0.5V or therefore, the diode current will be much higher than Is and we may represent i-v characteristics by the exponential relationship resultant in
ID = Is e VD/nVT (i)
The other factors that govern circuit operations is got by writing down a KVL equation resultant in
ID = (VDD - VD) / R ...(ii)
if we put ID=0 in equation (ii) we will obtain
VDD = VD
if we put VD = 0 we get
ID = VDD / R
