Procedure for Balancing:
A thin disc as flywheel or a car wheel can be mounted on an axle or a shaft. It may be rotated by hand. The side that comes down can be marked. It is rotated again. If the dame side comes down, this is heavy side & opposite to this is light side. If there is no force measuring device and rotating device, some of the mass can be mounted whenever this is possible. The care should be taken that the mounting distance is as big as possible. If marked heavy side again comes down, more mass may be mounted on the light side. This procedure is repeated until any side comes down. It is fairly balanced now.
If there is a machine as wheel balancing machine, this mentions the magnitude of mass and the location where balancing mass must be mounted. These methods are trial and error methods and are time consuming methods. It cannot be utilized in industries where time available per piece is less. The industries contain balancing machines that have rotating device and transducers that provide magnitude of balancing mass and its position. In practice, we never aim the ideal balancing. The machine or the component is balanced up to an adequate limit.
