Current divider
The other frequently encountered in electric circuit is the current divider. Figure below illustrates that the current divider divides the source current Is among the two resistors.

The parallel combination of two resistors is at times known as current divider, as the supply current is distributed among the two branches of the circuit. For the circuit, suppose that the voltage across the branch is V and the current expression in R1 resistor can be written as
Likewise, the current flowing via the R2 can be acquired as
It can be observed that the expression for I1 has R2 on its top line, which for I2 has R1 on its top line.
