Determination of Heat Capacity:
The DTA curve is conveniently used to measure the heat capacity (specific heat). For this reasons first a DTA curve is recorded for an empty holder and then for the sample placed in container is recorded within identical condition. The absolute modification in temperature (?Tx) has been measured and put within the equation for calculations:
Cp = K T2 - T1/mH
while Cp is the heat capacity at temperature T, T1 and T2 are diffenrential temperature produced while the instrument is first run without any sample at all and then along with the test sample in position, H is the heating rate (dT/dt) and K is calibration factor. It could be determined through calibration against standard substance of known enthalpy change.
