Irradiation of pure water Assignment Help

Assignment Help: >> Interaction of Radiation - Irradiation of pure water

Irradiation of pure water:

Reaction displays which irradiation of pure water generates an electron and an H2 O+ ion.  As begin, both species are highly reactive.  The H2O+ ion rapidly reacts along with a water molecule as follows.

H2O+ + H2O → H3O+ + OH

The species OH is an uncharged hydroxyl group.  Neutral groups like as this, in that all chemical bonding capacity is not satisfied, is general intermediate species in chemical reactions and is known as radicals or sometimes free radicals.

The electron generates through Reaction (3-1) first forms a species known as the hydrated electron, indicated through e -.  The hydrated electron might be thought of as resulting from the interaction of a negative electron along with the positive end of a polar water molecule.  That is analogous to the configuration of hydronium ions through interaction of a positive proton (H+) along with the negative end of a water molecule.  Since the water molecules related along with hydrated electrons do not participate in subsequent chemical reactions, they are not displays in chemical equations and the hydrated electron (e -) is used alternate.
