Assignment Help: >> Instrumentation for Flame Photometry - Detector and Amplifier and Readout Device

Detector

The method of a detector is to measure the intensity of radiation falling on it. Photoemissive cells or photomultiplier tubes are generally employed for the reasons. These detectors are also used within UV-VIS spectrophotometers. You are advised to recall the functioning of various types of detectors.

Amplifier and Readout Device

The result from the detector is suitably amplified and displayed on a readout device such as a meter or a digital display. The sensitivity of the amplifier could be changed so as to be able to analyse samples of varying concentrations. Present days the instruments have microprocessor controlled electronics which gives outputs compatible along with the printers and computers thereby minimising the possibility of operator error in transferring data.
