Source Range Nuclear Instrumentation:
Three ranges are used to monitor the power level of a reactor throughout the full range of reactor operation. A source range creates use of a proportional counter.
Given a block diagram of a classical source range instrument and STATE the reason of main components.
a. Linear amplifier
b. Discriminator
c. Pulse integrator
d. Log count rate amplifier
e. Differentiator
Source range instrumentation generally consists of two redundant count rate channels, every composed of a high-sensitivity proportional counter and related signal measuring equipment. Those channels are classically used over a counting range of 0.1 to 106 counts per second, other than vary based on reactor design. Their outcomes are shown on meters in terms of the logarithm of the count rate.
