Applications of Infra Red Spectrometry
IR spectroscopy is hugely used in both research and organization as simple and reliable methods for measurement, quality control and monitoring of dynamic processes. The intensity and position of the signals in infra-red spectrum permit the identification of structural elements such as typical functional groups, hydrogen bonding, etc. It can also help in the determination of conformations and even within monitoring the progress of chemical reactions. IR spectrometry finds applications in quite diverse areas such as drugs and pharmaceuticals, polymer industry, chemical industry, forensic determinations, agriculture, air pollution monitoring, semiconductor microelectronics, clinical and biomedical determinations etc. Let us discuss a few of these applications. We would hugely put them within three categories viz. qualitative, quantitative and other applications.
