Confidential Report

Mostly it is used in government organisations. This is a descriptive report prepared, normally at the end of every year, by the employee's instant superior. The report highlights the weaknesses and strengths of the subordinate. This report is not data based. The impressions of the superior regarding the subordinate are simply recorded there. This does not offer any feedback to the appraisee. The appraise is not very certain about why his ratings have fallen in spite of his best efforts, why others are rated high while compared to him, how to rectify on his mistakes, if any; on what basis he would be evaluated in next year, etc. Generally as the report is not made public and therefore no feedback is available, the subjective analysis of the superior is probable to be hotly contested. In current years, due to pressure from courts & trade unions, the details of a negative confidential report are provided to the appraise.
