Promotions and Transfers
Basically, Promotion is a reward for efficiency. It is conferment of added benefits, in the form of higher pay usually, for a raise in responsibility or skill which is formalised by a raise in status or rank. However, in another way, promotion can be defined as advancement of a worker in an organisation to another job, which commands better pay and wages, better status and prestige and higher opportunities and challenges and responsibilities, a superior working environment, hours of work & facilities etc.
Transfer is the lateral movement of workers from one position, department, division or unit to another. In general transfer does not involve any major change in compensation, duties responsibilities or even in status.
