Auditing HR Functions
Introduction
Personnel records & reports provide information about the utilisation of human resources in an objective way. Though, in most of cases this is not adequate. A critical evaluation of manpower programmes must be required to search the areas where development is required and to set things in order. In place of informal impressions summarised and gathered through reports and records, a systematic and analytical hunt is made to search the effectiveness of personnel management. According to Seybold, personnel audit refers to an evaluation and examination of policies, process and practices to determine the efficiency of personnel management. Personnel audit covers three things basically:
a) Measurement and evaluation of practices ,personnel programmes and policies;
b) Identification of gap among objectives and results; and
c) Determination of what should or what should not be done in future.
