Scope of HRM
The scope of HRM is very broad. Research in behavioural sciences is new trends in managing knowledge workers and advances in the field of training have extended the scope of HR function in current years. The Indian Institute of Personnel Management has denoted the scope of HRM therefore:
1. Personnel aspect: It is concerned with manpower planning, selection, recruitment, transfer, placement, training, promotion and development, lay off and retrenchment, incentives, remuneration, productivity, etc.
2. Welfare aspect: This deals along working conditions and amenities like canteens, crèches, rest and lunch rooms, transport, housing, education, medical assistance, health and recreation facilities, security etc.
3. Industrial relations aspect: It covers union-management relations, combined consultation, grievance, collective bargaining and disciplinary process, settlement of disputes, etc.
