Operations Research:
During and after the World War 2, the organizations faced several complex management decision problems such as vast manpower, supplies, ships, and other resources management. So, operations research teams were composed in military which were later appreciated by almost all the organizations. Consequently total systems approach, complex mathematical techniques evolved to aid these researches. These researches have been introduced and proliferated into the curricula of colleges and universities. Later on, many quantitative and other techniques such as linear programming, PERT/CPM and forecasting models were adopted. Operations research provided the organization, optimal or best, alternatives in several cases through analysis.
