Mechanisms with Higher Pairs:

There are various mechanisms with higher pairs. Some of these that are very common have been described here.

Gear Train

A gear train is utilized to transmit power from one shaft to other shaft while distance among them is not large. A simple gear train is illustrated in below figure.

 This mechanism converts one kind of motion into other kind of motion or it changes the axis of motion. A simple cam & follower mechanism is illustrated in given fig. This mechanism changes rotary motion into reciprocating motion.
