Strike Off Bar
It is a flat bar, made up of wood or iron. A strike off bar is displayed in diagram. It is employed to remove the excess sand from the top of a box after ramming. It's one edge is made beveled and the surface is completely smooth and plane.

Vent Wire
Vent Wire is thin steel rod or wire carrying a pointed edge at one end and wooden handle or a bent loop at the other. A vent wire is displayed in Diagram. The vent wire is employed to make small holes after ramming and strike off, so that the gases can escape simply during casting. These small holes are called vents.
