Types of Centrifugal Governors:

Based on the construction these governors are of two kinds:

(1) Gravity controlled centrifugal governors

(2) Spring controlled centrifugal governors.

Gravity Controlled Centrifugal Governors

In this kind of governors there is gravity force because of weight on the sleeve or weight of sleeve itself that controls movement of the sleeve. These governors are comparatively bigger in size.

Spring Controlled Centrifugal Governors

In these, a helical spring or several springs are used to control the movement of sleeve or balls. Comparatively these governors are smaller in size.
