The use of personal protective equipment is not intended as a substitute for adequate control measures, other than since corrosives could cause extensive damage to the body that equipment must be available as required. In During handling operations whereas splashes or spills are probable, whole body protection (eyes, body, head, hands, and feet) might be essential. All personal protective equipment should be carefully cleaned and stored subsequent use, and any equipment which cannot be decontaminated should be discarded.
For the protection of the eyes, chemical safety goggles should be worn. Face shields should be worn if finished face protection is essential. Eyewash fountains and safety showers must be available at any location whereas eye and/or skin contact might occur. Protection against mist or dust could be given through proper respiratory protective equipment. A wearing of protective clothing is also advisable to prevent skin contact. This might consist of aprons, rubber gloves, shoes or boots, and cotton coveralls that fit snugly. Safety shoes or boots made of chlorobutadiene, rubber, or other chemical-resistant materials along with built-in steel toecaps are recommended for workers handling drums or in procedure areas whereas leakage might occur. Carrier should be stored in rooms along with trapped floor drains. Curbs or a drained gutter, covered within an appropriate grill that should be constructed at door openings whereas floor drains are not given.
