Process Limitations:

There are some limitations of the gas tungsten arc process :

(a)   Deposition rates are lower in comparision of the rates possible along consumable electrode arc welding.

(b)   There is a requirement for slightly more dexterity and welder coordination than with gas metal arc welding or shielded metal arc welding for manual welding.

(c)    This is less economical than the consumable electrode arc welding procedure for thicker sections greater than 3/8 in. (10 mm).

(d)   There is complexity in shielding the weld zone correctly in drafty environments.
