Properties Of Properties
There are three logical effects of the statement of the idea of “property” as follows:
• The change in the value of a property of a system based only on the end-states of the procedure, and not on the path of the procedure.
• When a characteristic or magnitude associated to a system changes during a procedure by a quantity which based only on the end-states and not on the path of the procedure, that magnitude is a property of the system.
• In a cyclic procedure the total change in each property of a system is zero.
In mathematical terms, a property is stated by a point function that has a definite value whenever the finite number of variables forming its argument is identified.
