The MOSFET

The acronym MOSFET stands for metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor. A simplified cross sectional drawing of the N-channel MOSFET, along with schematic symbol, is shown in the figure given below. The P-channel device is shown in the drawings of figure given to us. The N-channel device is diffused into the substrate of P-type semi conductor material. The P-channel device is diffused into the substrate of N-type material.
