Manufacturing Database
The huge number of data to be saved and processed in a manufacturing information system makes it essential to give cautious attention to the implemented of the database. Within manufacturing, there are mostly two groups of data to be processed. The primary group comprises as:
- Structural information concerning the product, held in the bill of materials,
- Information about process capacity and manufacturing operations, that are contained in the process planning file
- Information explaining the manufacturing machines available.
All such information is relatively permanent in nature and will be altered only if a product is entered in or deleted from the production plan or whether production equipment is changed.
The second group of data is utilized for order processing, for example: information relating to,
- planning and processing a sequence,
- Machine selection and process planning,
- scheduling of shop orders, and
- Material scheduling.
This information is assembled for perform processing of the part and such will be deleted on the operation completion. There are four various types of database such can be employed.
