Rectangular Plate having a Central Hole:
The pre- and post-processors are often of insufficient quality as companies who supply them attempt to maintain proprietary rights. Therefore, a one-to-one functional match among the transferred information of two CAD systems is frequently not obtained. Also the more recent versions of IGES have trouble. For instance, the IGES Version 3.0 was not developed to present information on solids. Therefore, solids have to be described in an awkward method by boundary entities, and therefore some information regarding solids may not be transferred. Additionally there are representation schemes that are not unique and have unstructured file formats.
For the evaluation of IGES, let a CAD model of a plate along a hole at the centre. Figure (a) shows the 3D model of the plate and Figure (b) illustrated the wire-frame model.
