Objectives:

After studying this unit, you should be able to

• Described what is meant by a magnetic circuit and understand the magnetization curve. You must be able to write the equations for a series magnetic circuit built of different  type of materials and also having air-gap in it,
• differentiate among parallel and series-parallel magnetic circuit,
• write down the emf equation for a current carrying coil and determine the self- inductance,
• Find out the relationship among mutual inductance , self-inductance and co-efficient of coupling, and
• Find out the effective inductance for inductors coupled in series and inductors coupled in parallel, each with aiding and opposing combination.
