Applications of Conductometry:
We have discussed theoretical aspects and experimental setups for electrogravimetric, conductometric and coulometric methods. We have also briefly mentioned their applications in the area of chemical analysis. In this Unit we will take up the applications of electrogravimetry, conductometry and coulometry again, but in greater details so that you can understand the strengths and weakness of these analytical methods.
Objectives
After studying this Unit, you will be able to:
- Determine the values of many physical qualities such as degree of dissociation and dissociation constant of weak electrolytes, ionic product of water, solubility and solubility product of sparingly soluble salts using conductometry,
- Defines several kinds of conductometric titration,
- Defines the application of electrogravimetric methods in analysis of various metal ions,
- Defines the application of coulometric methods to the inorganic and organic analysis, and
- Describe the application of coulometric titrations.
