Power supplies:
MOST ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT NEEDS DIRECT CURRENT TO WORK. BATTERIES produce direct current, but there is a limit to energy and voltage a battery provide. The same is true for the solar panels.
The electricity from utility company is alternating current with a frequency of 60 Hz. In a house, most wall outlets carry the effective voltage of 117 V; some have 234 V. The energy from a wall outlet is unlimited practically, but it sould be converted from alternating current to direct current, and tailored to the right voltage, to be appropriate for electronic equipment.
