Different ways in cutting fluids:
Following are three different ways in which cutting fluids might be applied :
(1) on the back of the chip (1 in the Figure 15),
(2) Among chip and rake face of the tool (2 in Figure 15), and
(3) Among machined surface and flank face (3 in Figure 15).
The way in which the cutting fluid is applied is significance. It might be either flooding, in the form of a jet, or mist. In flooding, big amount of cutting fluid is applied upon the back of the chip that floods the whole machining area. In the case of jet application, the cutting fluid is applied under pressure. It has proved to be more influenced than the flooding. In mist cooling, little droplets of the cutting fluid are dispersed in a gaseous medium, and the mixture is directly applied to the cutting zone. This technique combines attractive properties of both of the gases and the liquids. This gives better surface finish and low flank wear.
