New Direct Marketing Model
Early direct marketers catalogue direct mailers, companies and telemarketers--gathered customer names and sold mainly goods through the mail and by telephone. Currently, due to advancement in database technologies and new marketing media especially in the Internet and other electronic channels direct marketing has undergone a dramatic transformation. Direct marketing may be apparent as being a distribution function (directly distribution) and a communication function (directly contact with the consumer). Some of the firms use direct marketing as a supplemental medium. However, for various companies currently, direct marketing is more than only a supplemental medium or channel. Now the Internet and electronic commerce constitute a new and entire model for doing business.
Some can say the Internet is the foundation for a new industrial order. Some of the firms (and the number is growing) utilized the new direct model as their approach only. Experts envision the day while all selling and buying will involve direct connections between companies and their customers. The new model will modify customer's expectations regarding speed, convenience, comparability, price, and service.
