Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA):
Differential thermal analysis is the most hugely used and is probably an extremely suitable method for the identification and estimation purposes especially within the case of soils (clays) and minerals. A chemical or physical change which is not accompanied through the change in mass on heating are not denoted in thermogravimetric but there is a possibility in which such changes might be denoted in DTA.
