Graph of Function

A convenient & useful method for learning a function is to learn it through its graph. To make the graph of function f : X → Y, we selects a system of co-ordinate axes in the plane. For each of x ∈ X, the ordered pair (x, f (x)) decides a point in the plane. The set of all of the points obtained by letting all possible values of x, which is, (x, f (x)): x ∈ X) is the graph of f.

The role which the graph of a function plays in the learning of the function will become apparent as we proceed further. In the meantime consider some more instances of functions and their graphs.
