Crankcase and Oil Pan:
The crankcase is commonly situated on the bottom of the cylinder block. The crankcase is described as the area around the crankshaft and crankshaft bearings. This area encloses the rotating crankshaft and crankshaft counter weights and directs returning oil into the oil pan. An oil pan is situated at the bottom of the crankcase as display in figures. The oil pan collects and stores the engine's supply of lubricating oil. Large diesel engines might have the oil pan separated within various separate pans.
