Blower:
The diesel engine's blower is category of the air intake system and serves to compress the incoming fresh air for delivery to the cylinders for combustion. The situation of the blower is shown on figure. The blower could be category of either a supercharged or turbocharged air intake system. Further information on these two categories of blowers is given later within this module.
Diesel Engine Support Systems:
A diesel engine needs five supporting systems in sequence to operate: cooling, fuel injection, lubrication, exhaust and air intake. Depending on the power, size, and application of the diesel, those systems vary in complexity and size.
