Disadvantages of Die Casting Process:

1.      Not economical for short runs.

2.      Just economical for non-ferrous alloys.

3.      Heavy castings may not be cast. Actually, the size of the dies and the capacity of the die casting machines obtainable limit the maximum size.

4.      Cost of die and die casting tools is high.

5.      Usually Die castings contain some porosity because of entrapped air.

Applications:

The typical manufactured made by die casting are carburetors, , magnetos, crank cases parts of scooters ,handle bar housings, and motor cycles, , head lamp bezels, zip fasteners and other decorative automobile items.
