Drying Lagoons
Sludge-drying lagoons, that are appropriate only for the treatment of digested sludge, consist of shallow earthen basins enclosed through earthen dykes. The sludge is first placed inside the basin and permitted to dry. The supernatant is decanted from the surface and returned to the plant although the liquid is allowed to evaporate. Mechanical equipment is then used to erase the sludge cake.
