Development of the Surface of a Square Pyramid:
Procedure
(a) Sketch the front and top view of the square pyramid.
(b) For find out the true length of the slant edge 2.0, rotate the line 0-2o regarding to 0 till it becomes as parallel to HP.
The new position is 0-2o. Then project 2o in the elevation and on the locus or horizontal line of 2″. The new latest point of intersection is 2″ by 0″. The true length of the slant edge 0.2is the length 0″-2″.
(c) Take radius equivalent to the true length of the slant edge, that is 0?-2″, and along with any centre 01 sketch an arc of a circle. Choose any point 1 on the arc and join it along with 01. Along With 1 like the centre and the radius equal to the base side of the pyramid that is like 50 millimeter cut four divisions on the arc of the circle and mark them as 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. Join 1, 2, 3 and 4 along with 01. Join 1 by 2, 2 by 3, 3 by 4 and 4 by 1 with straight lines.
(d) These four (4) isosceles triangles represent the lateral development of the pyramid.
