Organisational Knowledge
Additionally to job knowledge, managers must also possess knowledge of various jobs, markets, products finances creditors of the organisation, etc. The method of imparting organisational knowledge is multiple management and job rotation.
a) Job rotation: The transferring of executives from job to job & from department to department systematically is called job rotation. The idea behind this is to provide them the needed diversified skills & a wider outlook, which are very significant at upper management levels. The management should offer a variety of job experiences for those judged to have the potential for superior ranks before they are promoted. Job rotation enhances the inter-departmental cooperation and drops the monotony of the work.
b) Multiple management: Multiple management is a schema in which permanent advisory committees of managers study difficulty of the company & make recommendations to superior management. This is also called a Junior-board of executives. These committees discuss the real problems and different alternative solutions after which the decisions are made. Multiple management technique offers many advantages: it helps board members to achieve firsthand experience in various important aspects of business; it becomes simple to spot people with talent; juniors obtain a chance to improve their difficulty solving skills; and more significantly it is an inexpensive way of training a fine number of executives to do things on their own and grow fast.
