Diode Array Detector:
These detectors employ a huge number of silicon diodes arranged side through side on a single chip. While a UV-VIS radiation falls on the diode, its conductivity increases significantly. This increase within conductivity is proportional to the intensity of the radiation and can be readily measured. Because a big number of diodes could be arranged together, intensity at a number of wavelengths could be measured concurrently.
By the photodiode array is not as sensitive as the photomultiplier tube, the possibility of being able to measure a huge number of wavelengths makes it a detector of selection in the modern fast instruments.
