Lug Angles and Connections:

Lug angles are small angle pieces attached by one leg to the tension member (angle or channel flanges) and by another leg to the gusset plate. By using lug angles we reduce the length of the gusset plate and tension member connections, as it accommodates a number of required rivets or welds (Figure).
