Once the testing has been completed and the reliability goals have been met, the specifications arrived at, must be maintained during production. This requires conformance to design and manufacturing specifications through a good quality control program.

Once the product has entered into operations, an active preventive maintenance program, continuous engineering improvements and field modifications, and routine replacement of worn parts can significantly improve reliability.
