Calculating Individual Storage Space Dimensions
Assume l, b and h are the length, width and height of the unit load. The width (W), length (L), & height (H) of the rack structure of the AS/RS aisle are associated to the unit load dimensions & number of compartments as follows:
L = ny (l + x)
W= u (b + y)
H = nz (h + z)
Where ny & nz are respectively number of load compartments along with the length & height of the aisle; x, y, and z are allowances designed into every storage compartment to provide clearance for the unit load; u is storage depth in number of unit loads. All of the dimensions of rack structure are in 'mm'.
The overall storage capacity of one storage aisle is expressed as follows:
Capacity per aisle = 2 × ny × nz
Constant '2' is multiplied because loads are contained on both of the sides of the aisle.
