Purpose of Demineralizers:
Dissolved impurities in power plant fluid systems produce corrosion problems and decrease efficiency because of fouled heat transfer surfaces. Demineralization of the water is one of the most practical and general methods available to erase these dissolved impurities.
Within the plant, demineralizers (also known as ion-exchangers) are used to carry ion exchange resins and transport water by them. Ion exchangers are commonly categorized within two groups: singlebed ion exchangers and mixed-bed ion exchangers.
