Treatment to Walls
Wall could get damp because of penetration of moisture from its external face to internal one, because of porosity of bricks and mortar joints. Several treatments given to exposed surface of walls to avoid dampness involves plastering, pointing, painting etc. It is observed which plaster made out of cement, lime and sand mixed in proportion of 1: 1: 6 serves as protection of walls against dampness in weather conditions. In fields of heavy rainfall, cement plaster 1: 4 (1 cement: 4 sand) mixed along with water proofing compounds such as Permo, Pudlo etc. serves the reasons effectively. In exposed brick work, dampness can be avoided through painting the surface along with water proof cement paint. The provision of DPC for internal wall is shown in Figure .
