Maximum and Minimum Speed Constraints

Generally, these constraints are imposed by the machine tool. Though, in the case of carbide and ceramic tools, certain minimum cutting speeds has to be maintained to ignore the failure of these cutting tools because of BUE formation or micro-chipping. Therefore, the minimum speed constraint is calculated as the larger of the values of minimum cutting speed from machine tool and minimum cutting speed because of cutting tool (Vmin). Therefore, the speed constraint may be expressed as:

Equation

max { ( π D Nmin /1000) ,Vmin } ≤ V ≤ π D Nmax / 1000
