Pouring the Molten Iron:
While sufficient metal has collected in the hearth above the sand bed, primary the slag hole is opened up to permit the slag to get ejected and then the warm metal from the tapping hole is eliminated. The molten metal that flows out of the spout is carried in landles to the moulds for pouring. The similar procedure is repeated yet all the metal is melted and the operation is over. Sometimes a fore-hearth is utilized to gather molten metal from the cupola in a big quantity before this is transferred to the landles.
Closing the Cupola
While the operation is over the blast is shut off & the prop knocked down so that the bottom plates swing open. It enables the sand inside the furnace to drop to the floor. Then they are, quenched and eliminated from underneath the cupola.
