Assignment Help: >> Corrosion - Definition of Corrosion

Corrosion:

Corrosion is the deterioration of a material because of interaction along with its environment. It is the procedure in that metallic atoms leave the metal or form compounds inside the presence of gases and water.  Metal atoms are erased from a structural element until it fails, or oxides build up within a pipe until it is plugged. All alloys and metals are subject to corrosion. Even the noble metals, like as gold, are subject to corrosive attack in a few environments.

The corrosion of metals is a natural procedure. Most metals are not thermodynamically stable in the metallic form; they need to corrode and revert to the more stable forms which are generally found in ores, like as oxides. Corrosion is of primary concern within nuclear reactor plants. Corrosion occurs constantly by the reactor plant, and each metal is subject to it. Even by this corrosion cannot be eliminated, it could be controlled.
