Despite the extensive requirement of inconel for specific applications, a number of corrosion problems that arisen along with inconel tubing. Advanced resistance to caustic stress corrosion cracking could be given to inconel through heat treating it at 620º C to 705º C, depending upon prior solution treating temperature. Other problems which have been observed along with inconel involve wastage, pitting, tube denting and intergranular attack.
