Maintenance Schedules
When equipment is procured, the maintenance department has to take up the responsibility to see that the machine is kept into production state and then to upkeep, update or/and maintain it. This activity involves various maintenance functions probably in the sequence of erection, installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance scheduling, corrective maintenance, overhauling, lubricating, etc. Often, the maintenance managers or plant engineers schedule these jobs by their experience and commonsense. But it is not always successful and economic. It is not so easy to perform all these jobs at times so that the production is not affected. The knowledge of scientific methods in scheduling of these jobs will definitely add a feather to the cap of the plant engineer for his effective utilization of the resources.
