Introduction of Part Programming

In previous units, we have discussed the fundamental principles involved in the operation of computer numerical control machine tools. In this unit, we will study some fundamental aspects related to programming the CNC machines. Later units will concentrate on the application of these for industrial components.

Objectives of Part Programming

After studying this unit, you should be able to learn the

1. Fundamental principles to be observed in programming the CNC machine tools,

2. Various programming principles that need to be considered while programming the CNC machine tools,

3. Description of some of the commonly used preparatory or G codes used for controlling the part programming, and

4. Description of some common miscellaneous or M codes that are used in most of the CNC machine tools.
