Structure of CAPP System
An ideal computer aided process planning system is illustrated in Figure 1. The system consists of several modules ranging from feature extraction module to intermediate surface generation module. Each module might require execution several times in order to generate optimum process plan.

The other data needed for the generation of process plan are following:
A. Part list and specifications
B. Annual demand
C. Shop floor information - process capabilities
D. Accuracy and surface requirement
E. Jigs, gauges, fixtures etc.
F. Machining and cost/time data.
