Star Network Topology
A star network is one in which all the links are connected to a central point, which is essentially a small exchange that switches the information from one machine to the other and is shown in Figure 5. This type is preferable only when the system does not have to handle a lot of high speed traffic. The only disadvantage is that if the central serving station (switching) develops a fault, the whole network fails. Hence, it is not generally used.
