ODBC Support
Microsoft Corp. USA has devised interface standards for DBC data base connectivity from open front-ends that is known as ODBC Open Database Connectivity. With ODBC 8888888 in picture, a front-end application that needs to talk to a specified RDBMS server, required not has the connectivity pre-defined before writing the application. The ODBC interface permits applications to access data in DBMS (database management systems) using SQL (Structured Query Language) as a standard for accessing data.
The interface allows maximum interoperability a single application can access various database management systems. This permits an application developer to compile, develop, and ship an application without targeting a specific DBMS. Users can then add modules known as database drivers which link the application to their choice of database management systems.
